The Agro-burbs comprises 155,000 people, or about 15.7% of Ottawa. These areas are defined by homeowners living almost entirely in single detached housing on either the new fringes or suburban developments or in rural communities. Homeowners are generally able to afford their mortgages, and their housing is in good condition. Compared to all other cities across Ottawa, residents do not use public transit, and have long commutes by car. These areas are highly defined by family households, and in general are much less diverse that the rest of the city with just 5% of the population identifying as racialized.
