While the City of Established Capital neighbourhoods border the communities of Precarious Islands, Settled and Certain, Shifting Communities and The Young and the Restless, they are a different part of the city in many ways. These are wealthy urban neighbourhoods, with a third of residents being in the high income bracket, and almost 70% having a university education. Housing here is a mix of single detached housing and apartments, and about 6 in 10 buildings were constructed before 1961. Individuals here have very short commutes and work in public service or management positions, but on average use public transit less than their urban counterparts. Compared to the rest of inner-Greenbelt Ottawa, the City of Established Capital is much less diverse. Residents mostly speak English or French at home, have Canadian citizenship and are not racialized. This city represents about 71,000 individuals, or 7.1% percent of the city.
