This city makes up the core of Ottawa's suburban neighbourhoods outside of the Greenbelt, including Kanata, Barrhaven and Orleans. Many residents are owners of detached houses, three-quarters of which were built between 1961 and 1990. These neighbourhoods are a bit less diverse than both communities within the greenbelt, and the newer suburban communities that surround these suburban core areas. Almost 80% of households are families, and households do not on average move very often. Residents earn a little bit more than the Ottawa average, and work fairly evenly across all job categories. About 1 in 5 residents get to work by public transit and just under 10% spend an hour or more on their commute.
